{The Weekend Update} 4.9.16

Saturday, April 9, 2016 with 4 comments
So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit.  I might tweak the format a bit over the next few weeks, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff: stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog.  Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things.  Oh, and I've started linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews since I'm not using a specific meme title anymore.  April's also doing her own Stacking the Shelves posts on Sundays.  Stop by and say hi!  =)
I can't tell if I've caught the plague going around at work or if my allergies have just gotten more severe with age, but I'm not at 100%. Which kind of sucks because I have kids' birthday parties to attend this weekend. I would just send the hubby, but his plans this weekend include purchasing a tractor and then putting that tractor to good use on the "farm". We own some serious land now -- well, serious for us, who didn't consider that enough when buying the house -- and we've been borrowing a riding lawn mower to knock the grass down, but now that it's all greening up, that mower is just not gonna cut it anymore. I suggested goats, but I was vetoed.

Other than that, not much going on this week. OH. I did get that email that most bloggers got from Goodreads about being in the 1% of reviewers on the site. I don't care much about that stat since pretty much all of us bloggers fall in that category if we cross-post, but I liked seeing my most-loved review. And also that as of the date of that email, I'd posted 1009 reviews since I first joined the site in December of 2010. Pretty cool. Also, I love stats. =)

Okay, okay. On to the books. Here's what I scored this week...

From Publishers:

Thanks, Penguin! I cannot WAIT to buddy read Outrun the Moon with Sabrina!!! I loved Lee's debut!

I guess I'm sorta kinda beta reading this? :P I loved Rush's Altered series, and I can't wait to see what she does with this paranormal story.

The lovely people at Harper were lovely enough to send me a finished copy of Flamecaster this week, too. I loved this one, so I'm super excited to add it to my collection.

I'm on the US blog tour for Burn and so I now have a third copy of the book in addition to my Aussie and UK editions. =)

Traded:

I just put up a new #booksfortrade | Have You Seen This? post, updating what I have left and some new additions, plus a spreadsheet with my trades and wishlist available. I'm still looking for a few high profile ARCs, like The Rose & the Dagger, The Near Witch, and Throne of Glass, plus some other 2016 releases.

Purchased:

Yep. I had an ARC. Yep. I still waited for the audio version. And it was AMAZING. Link to my review is below.

Library:

Still missing the use of the library. My sis offered to let me use her library account since she does live in that district and doesn't have to pay the non-resident fee. Is that wrong??? Because I'm like *this close* to doing it...

So, that's my haul. =) What fabulous bookmail did you get this week?

Currently Reading:

Down With the ShineComing from the South and knowing people who know people who know people who brew their own moonshine -- and having partaken in it a time or two, lol -- and also loving a good dose of magical realism, I knew this would be a "Jen" book.

Currently Listening:

I just finished several re-listens again this week, plus the first book in Cinda Williams Chima's new series, so I'm in between audiobooks once again. Without access to a library, I have to be really selective with how I use my Audible credits, and though I have many, many books on my wishlist, I'm waiting for some new releases.
